Cooking Guide Remove from the fridge 20 minutes before cooking. Brown in a hot pan to seal. Add stock, wine and vegetables of your choice. Cook gently for 90–120 minutes until tender. Batch Cooking Recipe Ideas 1. Classic Beef Stew (serves 6–8) 1kg beef stew, browned 2 onions, 3 carrots, 2 Celery sticks 500ml beef stock, 250ml red wine 2 bay leaves, thyme, salt & pepper Cook at 160°C for 2 hours until tender. Portion and freeze. 2. Steak & Ale Pie Filling (serves 6) 1kg beef stew, browned 2 onions, 1 bottle of ale, 300ml beef stock Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt & pepper Simmer for 2–3 hours, cool, then freeze in portions. Add pastry when ready to bake. 3. Chilli-Style Beef Stew (serves 6) 1kg beef stew, browned 2 onions, 2 peppers, 2 tbsp chilli powder, 1 TSP cumin 2 tins chopped tomatoes, 500ml beef stock, kidney beans (optional) Cook slowly for 2 hours, freeze in portions, reheat and serve with rice.
